Clinical Hypnotherapy
If you have experienced difficulties in the past with being hypnotised, this is likely to simply be a lack of rapport and/or trust between you and the therapist, which can occur for many reasons. Please do not hesitate to call to discuss any concerns.
Hypnotherapy is a reliable route to self discovery and to positive, lasting change.
My style of Hypnotherapy is to work in a collaborative way with you and your consciouses rather than in a dominant manner, using both traditional techniques and what Stephen Gilligan Ph.D describes as Generative Trance. This allows for healing, transformation of problems and creation of new resources which are right for you and your life, rather than my dictating to you how I believe you should change or resolve your current challenges.
This work and the tools I will give you will empower you, bringing you to a state of self support, self generative solutions and therefore a greater sense of self, of purpose and greater independence and inner peace.
Hypnotherapy and Analytical Hypnotherapy, sometimes known as Hypno-psychotherapy, are powerful tools for healing and change. Hypnotherapy works at a subconscious level, quickly and effectively providing:
- the underlying causes of problems and behaviour
- the best route to their resolution
- behavioural change.
Scientists argue on the exact figures, but some state that as much as 96% of our thought process is subconscious. The subconscious is a part of the mind of which we are usually unaware, but which can influence and affect behaviour. Imagine getting into a car and only 4% of you makes a decision where to go and how to get there, whilst 96% of you takes the wheel and drives wherever and however it has already decided is best for you?
The subconscious isn't a bad thing, there is a positive intention behind every action it produces. It also means, for example, that we don't have to remember to breathe. But without getting to know and speaking with the dominant driver, your personal Chauffeur, we may neither find ourselves getting to where we want to be, nor travelling the road in the way we choose to reach our destination.
Whilst I could put reams of additional information here about Hypnotherapy, I would rather touch on what I feel will be the most important aspects to you; the questions you are most likely to want answered. Please click on the questions below and do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything else you wish to know.

Neuro Linguistic Programming
NLP was created following an extensive study of years of transcripts of the most successful Therapists of the time, by breaking down and modelling the skills that meant their work was efficient and effective for their clients. This work was then extended into other areas, such as business, sport, creativity etc. and also modelling how successful students learn, retain and apply information.
Its creators believed that all behaviour had structure. Therefore a new structure, or program, modelled on the structures of those who were successful in their field, could be applied to create success. The same applies to the processes involved in fear responses/phobias, to give just one example, which can be modified and "restructured".
The term Neuro Linguistic Programming was created to encompass the principles of the structure of the techniques
Neuro - in this case referring to how the mind and body interact
Linguistic - in this case referring to the insights into a person’s thinking that can be obtained by careful attention to their use of language
Programming - in this case referring to the study of the thinking and behavioural patterns or ‘programmes’ which people use in their daily lives.
I have found NLP to be a very powerful tool to use alongside hypnotherapy for helping to make positive life changes.
